Head into the heart of Central Australia, known as the Red Centre, on this five-day self-drive tour.
Beginning in Alice Springs, you'll journey all the way to Uluru National Park crossing the desert sands, past incredible geological formations, stopping along the way at various lodges and lookouts to enjoy this wonderful part of the world.
After Alice Springs, a remote town, you'll stop in the West MacDonnell National Park, also known as Tjoritja, which is renowned for its ancient landscapes and awe-inspiring scenery. Moving on, you'll complete the famous Mereenie Loop Drive to Watarrka National Park and spend the night stargazing at King's Canyon.
On your penultimate day, you'll take on the six-kilometre Kings Canyon Rim Walk, known as one of the world's top 20 hikes. You'll then jump in your 4WD ready for your drive to Yulara (Ayers Rock), arriving in time for your camel trek admiring spectacular desert landscapes with stunning views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
The final morning will be spent on a unique desert awakenings tour with an expert guide experiencing the tranquillity of the pre-dawn land under a canopy of stars.

Day 1: Welcome to Alice Springs & Kangaroo Sunset Tour
Upon arrival in Alice Springs, you'll pick up your 4WD hire vehicle. This afternoon you will take part in the Kangaroo Sanctuary sunset tour, included in your package. The Kangaroo Sanctuary is a place to celebrate the beauty of the red kangaroo – an Australian icon. On the guided sunset tour, you will experience a leisurely walk through the 188-acre wildlife reserve where you might meet the kangaroo characters from Kangaroo Dundee and many others.
Day 2: Leave Alice Springs Behind, Journey to the West Macdonnell Ranges
This morning, you'll leave Alice Springs behind to enjoy the amazing landscapes of the West Macdonnell Ranges (approximately 130 kilometres). You can enjoy several walks and stops on your way to Glen Helen for the overnight. The West Macdonnell Ranges offers a wide range of spectacular scenery that you cannot miss. You may want to stop and cool off at the Ellery Creek Big Hole.
Day 3: Mereenie Loop Drive to Watarrka National Park
Today, you'll travel to Watarrka National Park via the scenic route on an off-road adventure perfect for those that have hired 4WD vehicles to explore the Red Centre. The Mereenie Loop Drive officially starts at the Kataputa Pass and ends in the Watarrka National Park, meandering its way through Haasts Bluff Aboriginal Land. To break up the journey, you can stop at Ginty’s Lookout for stunning views. In the evening, you can go stargazing at King's Canyon.
Day 4: Kings Canyon Rim Walk, Travel to Ayers Rock & Camel Trek
Wake up early today to tackle the six-kilometre Rim Walk to the top of Kings Canyon. After 3-4 hours fo trekking, you'll have a rest before you jump in your 4WD ready for your drive to Yulara (Ayers Rock) in time for your afternoon tour. You'll travel for one hour on the friendly camels in the spectacular desert landscapes with stunning views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta watching the sunset. You'll return to the farm at twilight to relax and enjoy Australian beer, wine, champagne and bush foods.
Day 5: Desert Awakenings Tour & Departure
This morning, you will experience the tranquillity of the pre-dawn land under a canopy of stars. You'll watch the amazing transformation of colours and life as the desert awakens with Uluru and Kata Tjuta as your backdrop. In the company of your expert guide, this tour will introduce you to the natural and cultural landscapes of this remarkable region. You'll explore the base of Uluru and learn about the rock paintings before heading off to return your hire vehicle and fly home.
